Would love to join you for your round at Erskine Golf course in South Bend…it is my home course and 5 minutes from my home.
You will like Beeachwood in LaPorte, nice greens and a great course. Both Beechwood and Erskine are Bill Diddel courses, a famous Hoosier who taught Pete Dye a thing or two about golf course architecture.
Comment by John Burzynski March 21, 2009 @ 9:42 pmHey Nick, looks like a great adventure you are undertaking. Being a Texan I gotta point out that you are missing out on some great golf courses down here in the Dallas/Fort Worth metroplex. Amaraillo has some quality courses, but if you want some amazing courses you should try to swing down south a little more. Good luck on your travels.
Comment by Jason Costantino March 23, 2009 @ 1:08 pmHappy Motoring Nick
Your going to need a few pit stops for oil changes for the MOther Ship. Take care of her like you did the Original and you will be safe on the road.
see you on the course 97 hole number 1729

Comment by Henry Hamamoto March 24, 2009 @ 3:57 pmHi Nick and Fran!, Wauw, what a challenge! (Dean hasn’t got it (his love for extreme challenges) from a stranger…) We wish you a happy and fun golfing trip! I will follow up on you from time to time via this website, and wish you lots of love from all of us from Belgium! Tinne, Peter, Elise (2,5 years) and Kato (6 months) and from my parents Fred and Sonja of course!
Comment by Tinne Broeckx - Belgium March 24, 2009 @ 8:23 pmDear Nick–Good luck with your golf adventure. This certainly will dwarf Dean’s challenges. Remember that the difference between a successful person and others is not the lack of strength, not the lack of knowledge, but in the lack of WILL. Most importantly, I hope you didn’t forget to take your harmonica for entertainment.
Comment by Harry Pantelas March 25, 2009 @ 6:03 pmHi – Ron Madura sent me your link. Wish I had known before you hit St. George. I definitely would have looked for you. I hope you enjoyed the area. How did you like #6 at Green Springs? Best of luck – you have more energy than I do!
Comment by Carol March 26, 2009 @ 2:16 amWhat a fun challenge, wished I was along. Noticed that there are 3 courses listed for TN and only 1 listed for AR, April 8 through 11. Wrong address?
Comment by joe March 28, 2009 @ 3:53 pmJim’s mom saw your story in the OC Register and sent it to us. We enjoyed Dean’s “50 Marathons” book, and we look forward to reading yours – you ARE going to write one, aren’t you? I hope you realize how many golfers (and non-golfers) are envious of your grand adventure. You are an inspiration to us. Best of luck, and don’t come home until you shoot your age!
All our love to you and Fran and the family,
Cousin Marilynne and Jim
Comment by Marilynne Belna March 31, 2009 @ 2:13 amYou crazy Greek Guy! I am envious! Would love to play with you when you get to Spokane. Highlands is only 45 min away also. I will be in NC (Wilminton)from April 7 visiting Dave. We may be able to catch you in Charotte. Good luck, Ted
Comment by Ted Davies April 6, 2009 @ 12:34 amHey Nick,
Good luck on your tour. Are you selling T shirts? Don’t forget your “hop, skip, and a jump” shot. Really proud of you. Only you would do something like this.
Take Care

Comment by Will Allen, Jonathan Smith, and Hunter Wilson April 16, 2009 @ 1:03 amHey Nick,
Hope all is going well on your golf adventure. Wanted to let you know that we all miss you here at Inside the Outdoors. Don’t forget to let everyone that you meet know that the Lakers will win it all this year. Hope you get to watch some basketball games on your down time.
Good Luck

Nick,
Comment by Stephanie Smith April 21, 2009 @ 3:23 amI am keeping tight tabs on you. Stay on the trail, put your trash in the correct can, always lock the porta-potty restroom, and raise your hand if you have a question. And don’t forget to blow your whistle three times if you need assistance.
We miss you and can’t wait for your return.
Stephanie
Nick,
Comment by Brian Maxwell May 11, 2009 @ 8:35 pmYou are living a lot of peoples’ dream, traveling the country and playing the game we love, not to mention the inspiration you give. I saw that you recently played the Sagamore-Hampton Golf Club and it brought back some memories. My Dad took me there to play with him as a youngster. This was quite some time ago.. when the clubhouse was located in the barn. It was a beautiful course then and I can only imagine it is now… I seem to remember the hills on the back nine as being big…
The best to you on your adventure and keep it in the fairway
Nick,
